William Boyd Moon, 81, of Fort Worth, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas.
William was born to William B. Moon and Frances L. Jenkins on September 12, 1942, in Lumpkin, Georgia. William attended the University of Georgia after high school. After graduating from the University of Georgia, William was conferred a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. William proudly served his nation in the Vietnam War and across the globe, ultimately retiring in 1986 as a Lieutenant Colonel and earning a Bronze Star. William worked for General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for 16 years. After retiring, William worked for himself as a real estate agent and petroleum landman.
At his heart, William was a family man. He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his home and yard. William was a master at the grill, and Fridays through Sundays at the Moon house always meant more delicious barbeque than you could eat. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs and would also root for SMU and Texas A&M – as long as they were not playing his “Dawgs”. William enjoyed traveling and learning about new places and the history behind them. While known as a serious man, you were always in store for a witty joke or a kindhearted tease.
William is preceded in death by his parents, William B. Moon and Frances L. Jenkins, and his brother, Comer Jenkins Moon. May they rest in peace.
William is survived by his wife Artemis Moon; his brother-in-law Daniel Allen; his children William Boyd Moon, Jr., David Moon, Stephen Boyd Moon and wife Gabriela, and Alexander Pierce Moon; his grandchildren Cassandra Moon, Channing Moon, Will Moon, Shepherd Moon, Lexi Moon, and Cole Moon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
William was known by many different names, Colonel Moon, Bill, Boyd, Dad, Papa, and Granddaddy, but we will all remember him for his deeply held values, patriotism, and living life to its fullest.
