Sondra LaRue Cook, 81, of Benbrook Texas, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Sondra was born on January 5, 1942, to Hiram Ernest Wood Jr. and Gladys Patricia Lowery in Fort Worth, Texas. Sondra was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bobby Gordan Cook Sr., on July 25th, 1958, in Marietta, Oklahoma. She was creative, passionate, wise, caring, and loved the Lord and her family well.
Sondra was a godly woman that personified a disciple of Christ. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior took priority. She was a prayer warrior and mentored countless women. She served as a BSF leader for 20 years and was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. No doubt, she has already heard the words “Well done good and faithful servant”.
Her love for her family was a huge part of her life. She treasured every moment she got to spend with them. Granny, as she was affectionately called, was a great listener and was always ready with a wise word of encouragement. She will be greatly missed by her “precious angels”.
Her hobbies consisted of arts and crafts, painting, sewing, crocheting, playing 42, and she enjoyed reading adventure and mystery novels. She absolutely loved watching movies and was quite the connoisseur. She especially loved black & white movies and there is no telling how many times she watched “Casa Blanca”. Sondra was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan and recorded the games to watch on her own time.
Sondra is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby, and her brother David Wood.
Those left behind to celebrate and honor her memory are her sons Bobby Cook Jr. and wife Amy of Northlake, Tracy Cook and wife Jenifer of Weatherford, and Bryan Cook and wife Kimberly of Burleson; her daughter Angela Price and husband Robert of Aledo; her grandkids McKenna, Caden, Jon and wife Chloe, Matt and wife Jessica, Cory, Nathan and wife Sandi, Mason, Sarah, Robbie, and Drew; her great grandchildren Elijah, Levi, Eliana and Jaxon; her siblings Ernie Wood III of Tennessee and Gary Wood and wife Katie of Utah; along with cousins, numerous extended family members, her church family and a host of many friends.
