Patricia Elizabeth (Fish) Matthews, age 75, fell asleep in the Lord with her daughter and son-in-law at her side on January 9, 2025. She was also blessed with a touching visit from her son the previous day.
Patricia was born in Winters, Texas, to Homer and Naomi (Stephens) Fish on May 15, 1949. She was baptized on January 14, 1979, and was chrismated by Fr. Sebastian at St. Elias Melkite Catholic Church in Northern California on May 16, 2021.
Patricia was a well-loved and respected State Farm Insurance agent in Guymon, Oklahoma, for many years. After an early retirement due to the effects of multiple sclerosis, she returned to her beloved birth state of Texas, where she enjoyed a vibrant life at Sun City in Georgetown. Unfortunately, in 2020 she started showing signs of dementia, and in February 2021 she moved to California to live with her daughter, son-in-law, and four youngest granddaughters. In July 2022, she moved into a private care home in Fort Worth. She was back in Texas!
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Darrell, and her nephew Christopher.
She is survived by her son Bryan; daughter Brycie (Jim); grandchildren, Marina (Mason), Drake, Drew, Hutson, Clare, Gianna, Sofia, and Immaculée; niece Sherrie (Derek); nephew Wesley (Kristen) and their two sons; beloved cousins; and numerous friends that she made throughout life.
Patricia will be fondly remembered as a loyal, compassionate, loving, and vivacious mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Patricia’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her hospice nurse Mark; her caregivers at the private care home; and Father Elias and Deacons Tareq and Craig, who drove many miles to bring her the sacraments in her last months of life.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8
