Joel R. Atkins was born to Verna Mae Sadler and Seab Atkins on December 19, 1952, in Cameron, Texas.
As a young man, Joel went to serve his country in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to serve others by working for the US Postal Service.
He had many past times and found the most enjoyment in reading his Bible each day. Joel loved being by the water with a fishing pole in his hand, to him it was not about the biggest fish but being out there fishing. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team the “Dallas Cowboys”, but his favorite pastime was visiting with family and friends any chance he was able to.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eugene Price.
Those left to celebrate and honor his memory are his daughters Michi Atkins of Fort Worth, Natasha Atkins of White Settlement and Likita Duty and husband Eric of Fort Worth; his grandchildren Dakyri “Flea Bag” Atkins, Kaliyah Duty, Jaydon Reed, Darion Reed and Jordan “Jorge” Atkins; his great grandchildren Aries’ “AJ” Atkins, Athena Atkins, Mialani Atkins; his siblings, Oscar Amos and wife Sandra of Fort Worth, Ruthie Griffin of Fort Worth, Shirley Atkins of Fort Worth and Steve A. Crawford, Sr. of Big Spring, Texas; his former wife and lifelong friend, Vicki Atkins; Along with numerous extended family and host of friends.
